Questions and Answers Regarding Ordering & Shipping

Q: Will Doorposts have a booth at the curriculum fair in my area this year?

A: See our current Curriculum Fair List.

Q: What are "scuff and dent" books?

A: The "scuff and dent" books are discounted because of a dented corner or slight damage. They're otherwise complete and in like-new condition.

Q: What kind of discounts and sales does Doorposts have?

A: We offer the following discounts:

  • Quantity discounts:
10-14 copies of one item = 10% off
15 or more copies of one item = 15% off
Applicable quantity discounts will be applied in your shopping cart.
  • Scuff & Dent discounts: We sometimes have books on hand that have bent or scuffed covers from shipping damage (see previous question). When the "scuff & dent" discount is available on an item, a "scuff & dent" shopping cart button will be displayed by the product.
  • Special Sales: We occasionally send sale codes for customers on our e-mail list. You can be notified of sales and receive discount codes by subscribing to our email list(or by editing your email preferences in "my account").

Q: How long will it take for my order to arrive?

A: Estimated shipping time is given with each shipping option at checkout.
If you placed a backorder at a homeschool convention, shipping time will be approximately 2-4 weeks. If your order has not arrived within the expected shipping time, please call and we will be happy to check on your order status.

Q: How does Doorposts ship orders?

A: We currently ship all orders with the US Postal Service, and you may choose from the available shipping options at checkout. For wholesale customers, we will ship your bulk orders by UPS Ground. International orders are shipped air mail, either by First Class, Priority Mail, or M-Bag. International customers may save by ordering from one of our International Distributors.

Q: What type of payments does Doorposts accept?

A: We can accept the following forms of payment:

  • Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card (online or by phone or fax)
  • Checks (by mail, or call/email your order and we will hold it until your check arrives). Print our mail order form to order by mail.

Q: Does Doorposts accept returns?

A: Yes; please read and follow the return instructions on our Ordering Info page.

Questions Regarding Our Products:

Q: What Bible translations does Doorposts use?

A: Bible translations used in each book or chart are given in product's description on our website. Translations quoted in our books and charts include the King James Version, English Standard Version, New King James Version, New International Version, New American Standard Bible, and the New Life Version. Our purpose, especially when using mixed translations for the charts, is to help children easily understand what the verse says and how it applies to their lives.
For families who prefer to use one translation exclusively, we suggest printing verse texts and pasting them over any verses on your charts that are not in your preferred translation.

Q: Does Doorposts sell e-books?

A: No, we do not sell electronic versions of our products.

Q: At what age should I start using Plants Grown Up or Polished Cornerstones with my children?

A: The answer to this question depends partly on how much you want to work along with your children. Both books can be started very early (at age 5 or 6) if you plan to help.
We recommend assisting your children with Bible memorization at a very early age. Young minds, with friendly encouragement, memorize quickly! Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones both have memory verses at the beginning of each chapter and can be started as soon as your children are old enough to memorize with you.
Many of the projects in both books can be completed by young children with their parents' help. Many projects and Bible studies can be done independently as soon as your children can read and write. Projects in each section are arranged according to difficulty and age level, with the easiest projects first.
The "How To Use" section on pages 17-30 of each book gives detailed suggestions, ideas, and plans for working Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones projects into your daily schedule. If you already have the book, we highly recommend that you read this chapter!
For more ideas and help with lesson planning, join our user's group to receive sample lesson plans and discuss ideas with other parents.

Q: Do I have to use all the projects and lessons in Plants Grown Up or Polished Cornerstones?

A: Absolutely not! Think of these books like cookbooks! Do you cook every recipe in a cookbook? I don't! I look for the recipes that I think our family would enjoy, and leave the ones with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts for someone else to try. In the same way Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones are designed to meet the individual needs and interests of individual families. You know your children! Assess their strengths and weaknesses and choose appropriate projects, Bible studies, and memory verses to help them grow. We are simply trying to offer you many, many choices. Don't try to do everything!

Q: Do I have to buy all the other books and resources you mention in Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones?

A: No! When I'm thumbing through my cookbooks, I reject recipes that call for exotic ingredients that I don't have and am unwilling to purchase. In the same way, you don't need to buy every resource that is mentioned in these two books. Pick and choose what fits your interests and your budget. Stock your bookshelves with the additional books that you think you will use the most as you use Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones.
I would recommend having a good concordance and topical Bible when your children are old enough for basic Bible study projects. Use the internet to help you learn more about the other resources that are suggested in our books before you make your decisions.

Q: What children's ages are appropriate for the Ruby and Goldie Doll kits?

A: We think the Ruby Doll is appropriate for ages 6 and up, if younger girls have their mother's help. The Goldie Doll is a little more advanced--more suitable for ages 9 and up.

Other Questions:

Q: How can I get some free Doorposts catalogs for my friends, support group, or homeschool gathering?

A: You may request free catalogs using our new online catalog request form.

Q: Can I make copies of my chart or book for use in my own family?

A: We do grant you permission to make copies of most of our materials, as long as it is for your own use, within your immediate household. Bible study forms in Plants Grown Up, Polished Cornerstones, and Hidden Treasures are intended to be copied for your family's use. If you want to copy more than 25% of any of our consumable books (like A Young Lady of Valor, A Virtuous Woman, Beauty and the Pig, or Prepare Thy Work), please contact us for copy permission.

Q: What will I get by subscribing to Doorposts' email list?

A: Emails we send out to our list include sale codes, news about new products, and free articles or resources (see examples on our free resources page). We send about 6-12 emails per year, and we do not share your email address with any other party.

Q: How can I change the email address that is subscribed to Doorposts email list?

A: You may update your information at any time by changing your email address in your "my account" settings. You may also subscribe or un-subscribe using the newsletter check box.

Q: I am having problems downloading free resources or sample pages. What can I do?

A. Make sure you have a program on your computer for reading PDF files, such as Adobe reader. You can download Adobe Reader for free from the Adobe website.

Q: Doorposts e-mailed me a free chart or study a while ago, and I have lost it. Can I still get it somewhere?

A. Resources from our recent e-mails are still posted on our website; you can download them from the "Free Resources for Parents" page. If a resource is not listed at this page, then it is no longer available.
