\u201cWho shall separate us from the love of Christ?\u201d <\/em>(Romans 8:35a).<\/p>\n

Johanna and Victoria, two of my favorite ladies<\/figcaption><\/figure>I enjoyed reading all the comments about living with little ones <\/strong>last week after Johanna\u2019s review of \u201cLoving the Little Years.\u201d The words of an old hymn by Isaac Watts came to mind as I read the comments \u2013 a song we sing in our church, a song that I especially love.<\/p>\n

Now shall my inward joys arise, and burst into a song;<\/em><\/p>\n

Almighty love inspires my heart, and pleasure tunes my tongue.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

God on his thirsty Zion-hill some mercy-drops has thrown,<\/em><\/p>\n

And solemn oaths have bound his love to show’r salvation down.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

Why do we then indulge our fears, suspicions and complaints?<\/em><\/p>\n

Is he a God, and shall his grace grow weary of his saints?<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

Can a kind woman e’er forget the infant of her womb,<\/em><\/p>\n

And ‘mongst a thousand tender thoughts her suckling have no room?<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

Yet, saith the Lord, should nature change, and mothers monsters prove,<\/em><\/p>\n

Zion still dwells upon the heart of everlasting love.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

Deep on the palms of both my hands I have engrav’d her name;<\/em><\/p>\n

My hands shall raise her ruin’d walls, and build her broken frame.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

What a beautiful reminder of God\u2019s great love for us \u2013 greater even than a mother\u2019s deep love for her \u00a0baby.<\/strong> Jesus laid down His life for us. He delights in us. He has engraved our names on the palms of His hands. Nothing can separate us from His love. Nothing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am safe in His love. I can trust Him and move on in grateful obedience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
