I love this song. I don’t particularly love the challenges and trials it speaks of, but I love what the song says, and I love the God whose smiling face is hiding behind every “frowning providence” we face in life.<\/p>\n

God moves in a mysterious way<\/em>
\nHis wonders to perform;<\/em>
\nHe plants His footsteps in the sea<\/em>
\nAnd rides upon the storm.<\/em><\/p>\n

Deep in unfathomable mines<\/em>
\nOf never failing skill<\/em>
\nHe treasures up His bright designs<\/em>
\nAnd works His sov\u2019reign will.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;<\/em>
\nThe clouds ye so much dread<\/em>
\nAre big with mercy and shall break<\/em>
\nIn blessings on your head.<\/em><\/p>\n

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,<\/em>
\nBut trust Him for His grace;<\/em>

I can’t find a recording of the tune I know, but I like this one<\/a>! I discovered that the album has a wonderful story<\/a> behind it, too — the story of God’s mysterious ways at work in the life of a little orphan with special needs in Guatemala.<\/p>\n
