A visiting pastor read this old poem about the Bible during his sermon on Sunday. It’s a good reminder.<\/p>\n
This Book is the mind of God<\/strong>,\u00a0the state of man<\/strong>,\u00a0the way of salvation<\/strong>, <\/em><\/p>\n the doom of sinners<\/strong>,\u00a0and the happiness of believers<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n Its doctrines are holy<\/strong>, its precepts are binding<\/strong>; <\/em><\/p>\n its histories are true<\/strong>, and its decisions are immutable<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n Read it to be wise<\/strong>, believe it to be safe<\/strong>, practice it to be holy<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n It contains light to direct<\/strong> you, food to support<\/strong> you, and comfort to cheer<\/strong> you. <\/em><\/p>\n It is the traveler\u2019s map<\/strong>, the pilgrim\u2019s staff<\/strong>, the pilot\u2019s compass<\/strong>, the soldier\u2019s sword<\/strong>, and the Christian\u2019s character<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. <\/em><\/p>\n Christ<\/strong> is its grand subject, our good<\/strong> its design, and the glory of God<\/strong> its end. <\/em><\/p>\n It should fill<\/strong> the memory, rule<\/strong> the heart, and guide<\/strong> the feet. <\/em><\/p>\n Read it<\/strong> slowly, frequently, prayerfully. <\/em><\/p>\n It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. <\/em><\/p>\n Follow its precepts<\/strong> and it will lead you to Calvary, to the empty tomb, to a resurrected life in Christ; yes, to glory itself, for eternity<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n –Anonymous<\/p>\n God’s Word is our food<\/em>.
