We can\u2019t change hearts. <\/strong>Our words<\/em> can\u2019t change hearts and our actions <\/em>can’t change hearts.\u00a0We can\u2019t change our children\u2019s<\/em> hearts, and we can\u2019t change our own<\/em> hearts.<\/p>\n

We might be able to affect our children\u2019s behavior<\/em>. We might be able to make them to do<\/em> the right thing.\u00a0But we can\u2019t change their hearts<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Only God can transform a sinful heart into one that loves Him and longs to obey Him. He uses His Word<\/em> to accomplish that work.<\/p>\n

God, speaking through His Word and working through His Spirit, accomplishes what we will never<\/em> accomplish in our own strength or wisdom as parents. That doesn’t mean we’re off the hook; it means our responsibility is to love God<\/strong>, speak His Word into our children’s lives, and pray for Him to do His<\/em> work in their hearts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. \u00a0For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.<\/em><\/p>\n

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, <\/em><\/p>\n

giving seed to the sower<\/em><\/p>\n

and bread to the eater, <\/em><\/p>\n

so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; <\/em><\/p>\n

and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.<\/em><\/p>\n

God’s powerful. We’re not. <\/strong>If \u00a0we want to see change in the hearts of our children, we will water them with the Word of God and pray for a rich harvest.<\/p>\n
