\"Nothing021114\"I read a very loose paraphrase of Romans 8:35-39 on the wall of my friend’s laundry room the other day. I was surprised, when I finished reading, to find my name at the bottom of it! Weird. I don’t remember writing it, but then, I could hardly remember my\u00a0name<\/em>\u00a0during those 6-kids-10-and-under days of my life.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you’ll be able to relate…<\/p>\n

Who shall separate us from the love Christ? Shall mischievous boys, or over-zealous little girls, or well-meaning relatives, or colicky babies?<\/em><\/p>\n

As it is written, for Thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.<\/em><\/p>\n

For I am persuaded that neither silliness or crabbiness, potty-training or lost shoes, dirty dishes or over-drawn checkbooks, laundry or toys in the toilet, nor homeschooling, nor vomit, nor muddy boys, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m in a different season of life now. My paraphrase of these verses would look different now. Gone are the potty-training days, and even the four-teenagers-at-a-time days, and I am still\u00a0<\/em>persuaded that nothing will\u00a0ever\u00a0<\/em>separate me from God’s love.<\/p>\n

Neither too-quiet evenings, nor empty mini-vans, nor menopause, nor achey joints, nor the loss of loved ones, nor the heartbreaks of friends and family, nor the seven acres we’ll have to leave someday because we can’t keep up with them on our own, nor any of the much harder challenges I’m sure are yet to come,\u00a0shall be able to separate me from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus my\u00a0Lord.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nothing\u00a0<\/em>will ever separate me from His love. I\u00a0believe\u00a0<\/em>this. I’m humbled by it. I\u00a0rejoice\u00a0<\/em>in it.<\/p>\n
