{"id":8881,"date":"2014-06-26T01:00:31","date_gmt":"2014-06-26T08:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/?p=8881"},"modified":"2014-06-25T07:48:36","modified_gmt":"2014-06-25T14:48:36","slug":"proverbs-31-here-we-come","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/26\/proverbs-31-here-we-come\/","title":{"rendered":"Proverbs 31, Here We Come!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8917 alignleft\" alt=\"Prov31Intro062614\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Prov31Intro062614.jpg\" width=\"346\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Prov31Intro062614.jpg 480w, https:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Prov31Intro062614-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/>Tuesday, July 1, we start our study of Proverbs 31!<\/strong> In five to ten minutes we will learn about the excellent wife, while we also learn how to <em>study<\/em> the Bible in an active, flexible, rewarding way.<\/p>\n<p><em>Why Proverbs 31?\u00a0<\/em>Here we are, many of us struggling to make time for even <i>5 minutes <\/i>of Bible study, and we\u2019re going to spend a month taking a close-up look at\u00a0<i>the<\/i> superwoman of Scripture.<\/p>\n<p>You know who I\u2019m talking about:<\/p>\n<p>The lady who gets up while \u201cit is yet night\u201d, but whose \u201clamp does not go out at night\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The one who has time and money for real estate investments and the energy to plants vineyards and sell the clothing she makes<\/li>\n<li>The one who speaks with wisdom and kindness<\/li>\n<li>The mother whose children rise up and <i>bless <\/i>her<\/li>\n<li>The wife who does her husband good and not evil <i>all <\/i>the days of her life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Talk about intimidating.<\/p>\n<p>Or is she?<\/p>\n<p>Is this a\u00a0<i>real-life\u00a0<\/i>woman who walked the streets of Jerusalem?<\/p>\n<p>Did she negotiate the price for a field with a baby in her arms and a toddler playing in the dirt beside her?<\/p>\n<p>Did her children actually <i>thank <\/i>her for washing their faces, cooking their food, and making their clothes?<\/p>\n<p><strong>As we study this ode to the virtuous woman, we&#8217;ll think about questions like these:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are we really supposed to surpass every other woman who has \u201cdone excellently\u201d?<\/li>\n<li>What can we emulate in this inspiring-yet-sometimes-discouraging picture of the ideal woman?<\/li>\n<li>What can we quit feeling guilty about <i>not<\/i> doing or being?<\/li>\n<li>What are the husband and children <i>really <\/i>praising when they rise up and call this woman blessed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I can hardly wait to start digging! It&#8217;s amazing how much God can teach us in just five to ten minutes a day!<\/p>\n<p>If you plan on joining us, be sure you\u2019re\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/get-posts-by-email\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>subscribed to the blog<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0so you can have the lessons waiting in your inbox every morning!<\/p>\n<p>Besides your assignment for the day, every lesson will also include ideas for looking at the passage with a lively bunch of children. You may want to do these as you do your study throughout the month, or you may choose to simply ignore them. Another option is to take another pass through Proverbs 31 with your children <em>next\u00a0<\/em>month, after you have finished your own study. All the lessons will still be on the blog, whenever you want to come back to them.<\/p>\n<p>And, if you would like to interact with others who are doing the study, you can also\u00a0<strong>join our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/487622067967767\">\u201cBusy Mamas\u201d Facebook group<\/a><\/strong>.
