Pencils ready? Today we mark some text! Grab a <span style=\"color: #339966;\">green<\/span> colored pencil or pen, your Bible, and a notebook, and let&#8217;s get started!<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want to mark directly in your Bible, you can <strong>print out<\/strong> the psalm in your favorite translation, or you can print this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doorposts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Psalm103.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">ESV version<\/a> to use. Personally, I like marking in my Bible, because I can always go back later and review what I&#8217;ve learned. I tend to lose track of my marked print-outs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assignment:\u00a0<\/strong>Pray for the Holy Spirit to teach you today.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Then take your <span style=\"color: #339966;\">green<\/span> pen or pencil, and while you read all of Psalm 103, <strong>circle every appearance of the word <\/strong><em><strong>bless<\/strong>. <\/em>(If you are studying from the New International Version, circle the word\u00a0<em>praise.<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 25px;\">You should be able to find the word seven times.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Next, with a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">red<\/span> pencil or pen, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">underline<\/span> <\/strong>the word<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>all\u00a0<\/em>as you read the psalm again.<\/li>\n<li>As you review your markings, <strong>make a list<\/strong> in your notebook. List every thing and everyone who is <strong>called to bless or praise the Lord<\/strong> in this psalm. For example, in verse 1, David tells his\u00a0<em>soul<\/em>\u00a0to bless the Lord. The phrase that follows\u00a0<em>my soul\u00a0<\/em>would also go into your list.\u00a0You should end up with at least five things in your list.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review your list<\/strong>\u00a0when you have finished. Who is bending the knee before the Lord along with us?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 25px;\">I wish we had more time to study these words in detail. (The optional lesson this coming Sunday will offer some suggestions.) But we can see that <em>no one<\/em> and <em>no thing<\/em> is left out of David&#8217;s invitation to kneel before our Lord. We worship with the angels, with the hosts, with all God&#8217;s works in all places of His dominion!<\/p>\n<p><strong>For your children:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read the Psalm aloud for your children.<\/strong> (If they are young, read just verses 1-2 and 20-22.) Ask them to get <strong>down on their knees<\/strong> every time they hear the word\u00a0<em>bless\u00a0<\/em>(or <em>praise<\/em>). Read slowly in the verses that include the word. Each time they kneel, take time to read the rest of the phrase. Who is blessing the Lord?<\/p>\n<p>Take a minute to talk about <em>angels\u00a0<\/em>and <em>hosts\u00a0<\/em>and how they are described in verses 20 and 21. What do they do?
