Contest Awards and Giveaway Winners

Selected out of almost 900 photos entered in our “Write Them on the Doorposts” contest, this photo by Amy Jones is the Grand Prize winner. We received so many fantastic entries, but we knew this entry should win the Grand Prize when we found ourselves filing it into the “Best Photograph” category, the”Most Creative” category, the “Most Artistic” category, and the “Best Location and Verse Combination” category. Amy’s entry, in its elegant simplicity, encompasses so many of the things we were looking for in this contest! We love the sweeping line of the clothesline, the recall of neighborly conversation over the fence while hanging up the family laundry, the verse combined with the colorful pictures, the simple do-ability of it, and the warm yellow wall that sets the pictures off so well!

Amy’s prize consists of  a carved wood Ten Commandments plaque from Gathering Wood, plus a $150 gift certificate to Exodus Books, our favorite homeschool and Christian bookstore!

The winner of the “Most Artistic (Coordinated with Decor)” category is Esther Lee. We love the way Esther pulled some of the colors from the photo into her lettering, tying the verse and picture together in one nice, coordinated design. (She says they took this beautiful photo of the Colorado mountains too!)

Esther received a $50 Doorposts gift certificate, plus a 22″x26″ “Delight yourself in the Lord” wall decal from A Great Impression.

Our winner for the “Children’s Room” category was hand painted by Mary Liechty. Love these sheep and the winsome lettering! She won a $100 Doorposts gift certificate.

With Proverbs 31 written on her laundry room cupboards, Lori Firster inspired us to create a second place award in the “Most Creative” category. She received a $30 Doorposts gift certificate.

The winner of the “Most Creative” category is Jenn Cook, who said:

“This is one way we display scripture verses in our home — this summer my 5 1/2 yr old, my 4 yr old and I read through the book “My ABC Bible Verses: Hiding God’s Word in Little Hearts” by Susan Hunt. The kids and I were having so much fun learning our Scripture verses that after each new one we read about, I would write it on our painted chalkboard hallway wall, which happens to be right between each of the kid’s bedrooms. It’s a small hallway, so taking a photo of it was a bit challenging. I especially love this ABC Scripture wall because as I am getting ready in the morning in the bathroom, I can look right out into the hallway reading over each of the verses.”

Jenn received a $75 gift certificate to Wise Decor, good for any purchase of custom or pre-made vinyl wall lettering!

In the “Best Location/Verse Combination” category, Angela Parry won second prize, a $30 Doorposts gift certificate. What a great verse to send our family members out the door with! Whom will we serve as we leave our homes?

The winner of the “Best Location/Verse Combination” category is Tracy Kimzey, who received a $100 Doorposts gift certificate. Tracy says a they had a cabinetmaker friend from church custom-build this tabletop for them, with verses from Psalm 128 engraved around the edge:

“How blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways… Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table.  Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.”

And the winner of the “Most Artistic (Wall Painting)” category is Tammy Eckerson, who won a $100 Doorposts gift certificate. This warm, inviting, light-hearted theme is for carried throughout the living area of her house! You should see the rest of her pictures in the post for this category.

The winner of the “Best Photograph” category is Diana Nguyen. Beautiful room and great photo. Nice light, and charming model! Looks like he likes his room! Congratulations to Diana, who received a $75 gift certificate to Wise Decor, good for any purchase of custom or pre-made vinyl wall lettering!
